Bug hotels are the perfect way to create a more bug friendly home!
Bugs need lots of tiny spaces, organic matter and plant life to grow and be happy. When we build our houses we get rid of a lot of native bushland, trees, plants and spaces that bugs like to live and grow in. Making this bug hotel and hanging it up or placing it around your yard is a simple way to create more homes for bugs.
This bug hotel is a simpler version of many you see out there that often need bought materials or power tools to make. This easy version only requires some twigs, sticks, branches and leaves that you can find at home or at a park, and some kind of string to tie it together and hang it up. Super easy!

What you’ll need:
- Short twigs, sticks, bark, leaves, and odds and ends like pine cones if you can find them (check out your local park, bushland or your own backyard!)
- String, ribbon, elastic, twine, a length of fabric or some other kind of tie
How to make it
Step 1:
Collect your twigs, sticks and other organic matter, lining it up. Prepare your string, fabric or twine to wrap around all of your sticks and twigs.

Step 2:
Place your string, fabric or tie underneath your pile or organic matter.

Step 3:
Tie it all together, nice and tight.

Step 4:
Create a loop at the top of your string or tie, and hang it up!

Your bug hotel is complete! Enjoy!
